Mary Claire Leesa Folmar - we miss you, darling ♥️

Mary Claire’s due date is this Saturday. If none of the nightmare had happened, this week would be spent packing the hospital bag, folding little tiny baby clothes, and putting the final touches on her nursery.
I think back to the week Margaret was born - I had a wedding 3 days before I gave birth to her, and I was so delighted once it was completed and went into full mode of trying to induce labor. I was curb walking, taking hot sauce shots, all the things.
But this time, the week I gave birth to Mary Claire was months before I was supposed to by an emergency surgery. Instead of bringing her home in a car seat, she was brought home in a coffin. Instead of sleeping in the cradle Spencer made, she sleeps deep in the earth.
I don’t understand why this had to happen. Every aspect of it was just about as hard as it could be. It’s not fair that everyone’s life goes on, but hers does not.

So instead of spending Saturday welcoming our new daughter to the world, we will spend it beautifying where she is buried. Seeds and flowers, bushes and benches have been purchased, all to make her resting place just a little bit as beautiful as she was.

Today was my first wedding I have been able to run in six months. There were moments in the hospital where I wondered if I would ever be at a wedding day again. Words can’t express how grateful I am that my body was well enough to be here today. It was the most peaceful and happy day, and I am so very happy to be a part of it.
